چکیده

This work investigates the comprehensive recycling of graphite and cathode active materials (LiNi0.6Mn0.2Co0.2O2, abbreviated as NMC) from spent lithium-ion batteries via pretreatment flotation. Specific analytical methods (SPME-GC-MS Py-GC-MS) were utilized to identify trace relevant influencing factors. Two different methods, which are Fenton oxidation roasting, investigated with respect their influence on flotation effectiveness. As a result, for NMC materials, recovery 90% maximum grade 83% obtained by optimized roasting Meanwhile, 77% in froth product was achieved, 75%. By using SPME-GC-MS Py-GC-MS analyses, it could be shown that, an process, effective destruction/removal electrolyte binder residues can reached. The applied tools integrated into workflow, enabled process control terms sufficiency achievable separation subsequent

Lithium batteries and cathode materials.

In the previous paper Ralph Brodd and Martin Winter described the different kinds of batteries and fuel cells. In this paper I will describe lithium batteries in more detail, building an overall foundation for the papers that follow which describe specific components in some depth and usually with an emphasis on the materials behavior. The lithium battery industry is undergoing rapid expansion,...

Recovery of cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries using organic citric acid as leachant.

In this work, a hydrometallurgical process based on leaching is applied to recover cobalt and lithium from spent lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Citric acid and hydrogen peroxide are introduced as leaching reagents and the leaching of cobalt and lithium with a solution containing C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O is investigated. When both C(6)H(8)O(7) x H(2)O and H(2)O(2) are used an effective recovery of Li...

Optimization of Layered Cathode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries

This review presents a survey of the literature on recent progress in lithium-ion batteries, with the active sub-micron-sized particles of the positive electrode chosen in the family of lamellar compounds LiMO₂, where M stands for a mixture of Ni, Mn, Co elements, and in the family of yLi₂MnO₃•(1 - y)LiNi½Mn½O₂ layered-layered integrated materials. The structural, physical, and chemical propert...

NMR studies of cathode materials for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.

Lithium intercalation or insertion materials have been widely investigated in the search for new electrode materials for use in high-voltage rechargeable batteries.1-6 The first commercial Li-ion rechargeable battery contains the layered materials LiCoO2 (Figure 1) and graphite as the cathode (or positive electrode) and anode (or negative electrode), respectively.7 Although this battery is the ...

Electrode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries: A Review

Electrochemical energy storage systems are categorized into different types, according to their mechanisms, including capacitors, supercapacitors, batteries and fuel cells. All battery systems include some main components: anode, cathode, an aqueous/non-aqueous electrolyte and a membrane that separates anode and cathode while being permeable to ions. Being one of the key parts of any new electr...
